Agile Project Management

Information from Agile Business Consortium and APMG International

AgilePM® is the world’s leading certification in Agile Project Management, with over 100,000 exams taken worldwide.

When organizations struggle with rigid processes or a substantial lack of defined processes, the business suffers. To make matters worse, many organizations pair inefficient processes with unclear project requirements or misaligned priorities.

This combination rarely ends well for organizations. Agile Project Management brings a flexible approach to address these common issues.

Businesses today need results faster and more efficiently. Project management needs to be flexible to adapt to changing circumstances, but still deliver. AgilePM balances robust governance with a collaborative culture that inspires innovation and improves competitive advantage.

The world of project management has changed significantly over recent years. Until recently, much of the corporate world predominantly used traditional, sequential, “waterfall” approaches for projects.

AgilePM guidance offers a practical and repeatable methodology that achieves an ideal balance between the standards, rigour and visibility required for good project management, and the fast pace, change and empowerment provided by agile.

The focus is on developing solutions incrementally enabling project teams to react effectively to changing requirements, whilst empowering project personnel and encouraging increased collaboration and ownership.

The guidance is based on the Agile Business Consortium’s Agile Project Framework and is underpinned by the framework’s eight principles for effective agile project delivery:

  1. Focus on the business needs
  2. Collaborate
  3. Communicate continuously and clearly
  4. Deliver on time
  5. Never compromise quality
  6. Build incrementally from firm foundations
  7. Build Iteratively
  8. Demonstrate Contro

The AgilePM guidance and supporting training courses explain how to lay the foundations for successful agile projects and manage an agile project from start to finish.

Additionally, the new AgilePM version 3 update introduces Scrum practices as well as project simulations that reinforce Agile-thinking and its applications.

Foundation Examination

The Foundation Examination tests the general understanding of the fundamental principles of Agile Project Management. This is intended for those who intent to work within a project environment and who need to know the terminology used and some of the theory behind the practice. It is also a preamble to the Practitioner qualifications.

The Foundation Examination is closed book with short answer and multi-choice questions. There are 50 questions. Total time available is 40 minutes. Pass mark is 50%.  For a candidate to proceed to take the Practitioner level qualification, they will need to pass their Foundation Examination

Practitioner Examination
The Practitioner Examination requires a comprehensive understanding of the principles and theory of the Agile Project Management handbook.

The Practitioner Examination is an open book and scenario based with objective style questions. This is a 2 hour objective test examination. This booklet contains the Project Scenario upon which this exam paper is based. All questions are contained within the Question Booklet

All information provided within a question must only be applied to that question. All question items gain one mark for a correct answer. There is no negative marking. For all question items, if more or less than the required number of responses are given, the answer scores zero. No partial marks are awarded for any question item.

This includes Multiple Response question items, where a mark is gained only if the two required responses are identified. Each of the four questions is worth 15 marks, giving a maximum of 60 marks in the paper. The pass mark is 50% (30 marks). Within each question the syllabus area to which the question refers is clearly stated

Raj Khanna Associates' training is focused on the learning and not teaching. Therefore, unlike majority of other providers having a block of three or five consecutive training days, we would we spread the sessions over 2 weeks, allowing our participants to:

    • Have an opportunity to make appropriate notes and digest their learning, before moving on to the next element. All our sessions are recorded, and participants can review them again to suit their learning styles.
    • Apply the learning to the way their organisation and change initiatives are being managed, including their personal role and responsibility. Additionally, the participants can understand the different roles and documentations they might come across.
